PROTEM was created more than 30 years ago, in order to meet the needs, among others, of its customers manufacturer of steam boilers. PROTEM developed for them a great range of portable bevelling, cutting, flange facing machines...

Actually, a nuclear power station is running nearly as a steam boiler is and whatever the type of reactor is:

• Graphite-moderated boiling water reactor (RBMK)
• Graphite-moderated and carbon dioxide cooled natural uranium reactor (natural uranium or graphite gas (NUGG) reactor types)
• Pressurized water reactor (PWR) or its russian alternative, the WWER
• Boiling water reactor (BWR)
• Pressurized heavy water reactor (PHWR)
• Advanced gas reactor (AGR)
• Sodium coolant and fast neutron reactor
• Heavy water moderated natural uranium reactor (canadian reactor type CANDU)

This reactor and all the tubular components need construction, maintenance and dismantling works.

PROTEM provided the nuclear operators and to the companies who built these power stations, all over the world, with several machines.
These machines allowed them to perform machining and welding works
- prior to any construction
- necessary for any preventive or curative maintenance
- necessary for the dismantling of some of these power station.

PROTEM’s range of products for those works includes, for example, the TT-NG series:

The tube cutting machines of the PROTEM TT-NG-series enable to perform perfect cutting and bevelling works on tubes and pipes of all schedules in one simultaneous and unique operation. These machines are especially designed for heavy wall tubes and pipes. They are very robust and can be operated in all positions. Their split frame configuration allows their opening in 2 half-shells. The machines have a rear entering feature and completely enclosed drive gears for the operators’ safety. Their machining and clamping capacity is from 60.3 mm OD to 2082.8 mm OD (2” to 82”).
