PROTEM’s automatic cutting and bevelling machines include the CTA model:
The CTA model is designed for production or prefab workshops. It allows cutting and bevelling tube sections at the right length. The cutting is square and the bevel angles are very precise. The cold machining process gives a clean surface finish and does not affect the pipe material features.
A unique machine allows the cutting and the bevelling of various tubes. The standard ranges are from 2 to 12“ (60 to 323 mm), 6 to 16“ (168,3 to 406,4 mm) and 12 to 24” (323,9 to 610 mm) outside diameter.
Cutting principle
The tube to cut is stationary. It is immobilized in the machines outside clamping systems. The tool bits mounted on the rotating plate are put into rotation around the tube to perform the cut. The feed and back up of the tool bits are realized entirely mechanically during the rotation of the tool holder plate. While cutting, the machine performs bevelling on both ends. The tool holder carriages mounted on the rotating plate are equipped with housings which can accept several types of tool blocks.
The machining capabilities are
- straight cut
- 30° bevelling with land (2 bevels are performed simultaneously with a 60° pointed tool bit)
